    It’s quite possible,I would image.The Basque language,Euskera, doesn’t really seem to be closely related to any other language,ancient,or modern.

    The Portuguese were the Explorers who connected Europe to the other continents in the Age of Exploration, not the Basque people.

    David Noel comments: Certainly the Portuguese were great explorers, but the Basques were earlier still, possibly even reaching North America before Columbus (not a well-known fact).
